Humboldt fellowship awarded to Ankit Disa
Ankit Disa from the Quantum Condensed Matter Dynamics group under Andrea Cavalleri has been awarded a prestigious Humboldt research fellowship in recognition of his work.

He will use the funding for a two-year project to study if light can be used to control functional interfaces between different oxides on ultrafast time scales. Dr Disa has been at the MPSD since September 2016. He received his BS from Cornell University in 2010 and his PhD from Yale University in 2016.
His work focuses on the design and control of novel electronic and magnetic phases in complex oxide heterostructures.
The Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers is aimed at scientists at the beginning of their academic careers. The fellowship allows them to carry out long-term research projects in Germany. Applicants choose their own topic of research and their academic host.
