President Cramer visits the Max Planck New York Center for Non-Equilibrium Quantum Phenomena
On 17 March, Center Director Dmitri Basov and Deputy Director Angel Rubio welcomed Max Planck Society President Patrick Cramer at the premises of Columbia University and of the Center for Computational Quantum Physics (CCQ). The directors had the opportunity to present their research and introduce the community at the heart of the Max Planck New York Center for Non-Equilibrium Quantum Phenomena.
President Cramer was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Anton Zensus, Director Emeritus at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy and Chair of the MPG North America Roundtable, and Ms Sabine Panglung, Policy Officer for Cooperation with North America.
"It was a real honour to welcome President Cramer and his delegation and to share with them the science we have been building together over the past years," said Angel Rubio. "This Center thrives on the close collaboration between our partner institutions on both sides of the Atlantic, and his visit was a reminder of how much we can achieve when we work across boundaries."
President Cramer's visit was a meaningful recognition of the work carried out across our partner institutions: the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg, the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Columbia University, Cornell University, and the Flatiron Institute's Center for Computational Quantum Physics and Initiative for Computational Catalysis. Together, they bring together expertise in advanced optical and x-ray science, ultrafast microscopy, materials synthesis, and computational methods to address some of the most exciting open questions in physical sciences.
The director's board is grateful for President Cramer's engagement and for his continued support of the Center's mission.
