Humboldt Fellowship awarded to Eryin Wang

July 27, 2018

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation has awarded a fellowship to Dr Eryin Wang from the Condensed Matter Dynamics department of the MPSD. Dr. Wang will use the funding for a two-year project to study ultrafast phenomena on small chips.

His work will combine photoconductive switches and the thin-film growth technique to study novel light-induced phenomena such as light-enhanced superconductivity in potassium-doped fullerene.

Eryin Wang has been at the MPSD since September 2017 and works in the Quantum Condensed Matter Dynamics Group under director Andrea Cavalleri. He received his BS degree from Beihang University in 2011 and his PhD from Tsinghua University in 2017.

Dr Wang said: “The Humboldt fellowship will provide me with a great opportunity to continue my research into ultrafast phenomena at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter.”

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awards its prestigious research fellowships to promising young scientists with above average qualifications in their early career. The fellowships allow international scientists to carry out long-term research projects in Germany. Applicants are free to choose their research topic and their academic host.
