DESCRIPTION:The photoinduced charge-separation events occurring in photovol
taic and light harvesting systems have traditionally been interpreted in t
erms of the incoherent kinetics of optical excitations and of charge hoppi
ng. Although signatures of quantum coherence were recently observed in ene
rgy transfer in photosynthetic bacteria andalgae[1] still very little is k
nown about the role of quantum coherence at room temperature in technologi
cally relevant organic photovoltaic materials. Recent experiments found ev
idence for an ultrafast long-range charge separation in such systems but c
ould not differentiate between coherent and incoherent charge-transfermode
