Humboldt Research Fellowship awarded to Shunsuke Sato

Junior scientist Shunsuke Sato has been awarded with a fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to support his research at the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD) in Hamburg.

Shunsuke Sato received his doctorate from the University of Tsukuba, Japan in 2016. A Research Fellowship from the Japan Society for the Promotion for Science followed. Soon afterwards in spring 2017 he joined Prof. Angel Rubio’s Theory Group at the MPSD in Hamburg as a Post-Doc.
During the next two years he will focus on first principles investigation of the photovoltaic effect in ferroelectrics.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation provides its prestigious Research Fellowships to support promising young scientists with above average qualifications in their early career.

The fellowships allow international scientists to carry out long-term research projects in Germany. Applicants are free in the choice of their topic of research and their academic host.
