Two fellowships awarded to Jacob Burgess

April 30, 2014
Jacob Burgess of the Dynamics of Nanoelectronic Systems Max Planck Research group in Hamburg has been awarded both a Humboldt Research Fellowship and a NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation provides its prestigious research fellowships to support promising young scientists in their early career, with a particular emphasis on promoting collaboration between German and international research.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) postdoctoral fellowship program is maintained to support newly graduated Canadian postdoctoral researchers worldwide and international postdocs within Canada.  The annually awarded fellowships are highly competitive and carry a great deal of prestige.

Both fellowships will combine to support investigations planned by Burgess into the atomic scale dynamics of phase transitions in antiferromagnetic atomic systems, frustrated magnetic systems, and correlated electron materials performed in the Dynamics of Nanoelectronic Systems Max Planck Research group in Hamburg.
