Scientific Support Unit – Hans Fangohr
The Scientific Support Unit for Computational Science supports ongoing research in the teams of the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD) in all areas relevant to the use of computation for research.
This includes the analysis of experimental data sets, design and use of computer simulation, software engineering for research software, data visualisation, high performance computing, reproducibility of results and re-usability of software.
Scientists and engineers of the SSU collaborate closely with the research groups and departments of the MPSD to achieve effective solutions empowering their computational research, using best practice and exploring leading edge approaches where appropriate.
The unit will build and maintain a high performance computing installation for the institute in the new building.
