Career Development
The Max Planck-New York Center is committed to advancing our understanding of quantum materials and non-equilibrium quantum phenomena through collaboration, innovation, and the development of career paths for the involved researchers. A focus of the Center is fostering independent careers of young scientists in parallel with training of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.
- Career Development Programs
The biggest institutional impact feature of the center is our career development programs for junior scientists, including a joint postdoctoral program and a mid-career mentoring program. The center's career paths have four distinct avenues involving participating universities and extending to other institutions in the area. This includes:
1) Student and postdoc supervision
2) PhD - Postdoc transition
3) Joint Postdoctoral Program
4) Early Independent Career Mentoring Program
- Scientific ambassadorship
The significance of the research conducted at the Max Planck New York Center is further emphasized by the fact that we have successfully attracted talents at all experience levels, from junior to senior scientists that gained visibility and transitioned to permanent academic positions or positions as group leaders, independently of the center's program. Many of them continue to maintain strong collaborative ties with the center
