Abstract:
This lecture introduces the physical principles and experimental foundations of ultrafast optics.
You will learn how femtosecond laser pulses are generated, characterized, and controlled, and how they propagate through optical materials and devices. Emphasis is placed on understanding pulse duration, spectral bandwidth, dispersion, and phase, as well as on practical aspects such as pulse measurement, stretching and compression. Overall, the course provides the essential background for advanced studies and applications of ultrafast light sources in science and technology.
